This is a knife that you can trust. The blade is wide and thick. I reprofile the edge to 18 degrees on each side total 36 on work sharp convex edge . This knife cuts wood like butter especially at 36 degrees. You can use it as a pry bar, you can chop and on the end you can pill an apple. The handle is excellent. If you don't like the black coating you can strip it off. It is a good idea if you strip the coating to get some force patina with citric acid once the acid treatment is done an oil needs to be applied from time to time to keep the knife from rust(vegetable oil). The steel is so easy to sharpen and holds an excellent edge. The only think I can recommend is the micarta handle scales. I will be buying them once they are available.

Okay this Becker/Kabar BK2/Bk22 knife and sheath is a hugely reviewed and widely sought-after knife, one of the best choices you can make for a long-life bush knife. I made knives from scratch 25 years ago and am familiar with how the build process goes. However, after receiving the knife and a few other items in the mail in two days(!) I was actually impressed with the finish and quality of the construction of the knife. I had left it in the hands of a co-worker to look it over while looking after the business, and he was shaving his arm hair with it- it was that sharp out of the package. the finish on this carbon steel (not chrome steel) is flawless. Good usable sheath with a utility pocket for stone, flashlight etc.
I will be paracording into the sheath a good AA led flashlight, a firestarter, and a good Japanese water stone for sharpening on the run. Best hundred bucks i have spent in years. :)
